Innovation City: Join us for OpenCo Detroit

"The best way to learn about the innovation economy isn't in a stuffy ballroom."

We couldn't agree more. Which is why we're excited that OpenCo, the citywide open house that first debuted in San Francisco, is coming to Detroit in September -- joining the likes of New York City and London.

Why Detroit? According to founders Brian Monahan and John Battelle, this year's host cities are "famed for their forward-thinking outlook" and are home to some of the world's most exciting companies. Better yet, these companies embrace a set of values we share: open collaboration, open communication, open community.

We can get behind that. So much so, in fact, that we called our friends at Detroit Bus Company to charter a special bus for the occasion, hosted by Urban Innovation Exchange.

So here's the deal: On Thursday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. we'll be doing a loop of incubators and co-working spaces in greater downtown that have emerged as springboards for new ideas in the city. If you've been wanting a behind-the-scenes look at places where innovators are gathering to create and collaborate, here is your chance.

Intrigued? Then hold the date and hop on the bus with us for an insider's look at urban innovation, Detroit-style. Our itinerary includes:
Registration for the UIX tour is limited, so sign up today and we'll follow-up with everything you need to know about where to go.

(No promises, but if enough of you register, we might even convince your favorite UIX reporter Tunde Wey to provide witty and insightful commentary along the way.)

Want the full OpenCo experience? Check out the impressive lineup of innovative companies and organizations who will open their doors on Sept 12. (We wish we could peek inside ALL of them.)
