A couple of local barkeeps and a chef have launched their own venture focused on event planning and execution.
Bailout Productions describes itself as bringing "quality food and drink to Detroit in a captivating way. Food and Drink driven events to showcase our product while turning the spotlight on different neighborhoods and spaces in Detroit." One of its co-founders describes the inspiration for the company as thus:
"Boredom and a need for better drinks in the city," says Joe Robinson, founder, event coordinator & drink specialist for
Bailout Productions. "We didn't have the money to open our own place so we decided to do events at the places we like to go."
Robinson (the bar manager at
Roast) and Travis Fourmont (who works at
Great Lakes Wine & Spirits) handle the alcohol end of the operation. Andy Hollyday serves as the chef who manages the pop-up kitchen aspect.
The trio of businessmen have done four events, including one at
Green Dot Stables in Corktown and another at the former Rhino Bar in downtown. They are now working on a fundraiser party for the Belle Isle Conservancy in July.
