After making a big splash for creating dozens of new IT jobs in downtown Detroit a few years ago, GalaxE.Solutions is now moving onto its next phase of hiring.
The on-shoring IT firm currently has a staff of 150 employees and a couple of interns in the 1001 Woodward building overlooking Campus Martius. That's up from 130 employees when Model D last touched base with the company in early 2012. The firm has been expanding its staff through organic talent creation efforts, such as
IT in the D and working with local colleges. Establishing a talent pipeline from local colleges will be key to the company's future expansion.
"We are going to encourage these educational institutions to align their curriculum with out hiring criteria," says Tim Bryan, CEO of
GalaxE.Solutions.
GalaxE.Solutions specializes in on-shoring IT jobs that were once shipped overseas to cost-effective places in America. Downtown Detroit turned out to be a perfect place for that because of its low overhead, such as real-estate and staff costs. Those low barriers of entry and other efficiences, such as doing work in the same time zone as the client company, put the cost of doing IT work in Detroit in competitive ground with places like India.
GalaxE.Solutions is taking its pride in doing business in Detroit public, launching the "Love, Detroit!" campaign. The firm released a video detailing downtown Detroit's emerging vibrancy and making a pitch on why people should visit, stay and do business in the Motor City. Watch the video

"We believe that when people come and visit Detroit they will want to stay here," Bryan says.
