Powerlink is hiring dozens of people in Detroit so far this year, and the company expects that trend to continue as it tries to keep up with downtown Detroit's recent growth spurt.
The New Center-based business specializes in staffing, facilities management and maintenance services. Its customers include
Detroit Public Schools, the
Karmanos Cancer Institute and
Henry Ford Health System. Most of the company's growth has been in Metro Detroit and the firm's leadership expects that to continue.
"We're really excited about some of the growth we're seeing in Detroit," says Link Howard III, president & CEO of
Powerlink.
The recent growth has resulted in 75 new hires over the last six weeks and 150 total over the last year. The new business that is driving that hiring is coming from health care, education and manufacturing clients. That has pushed the company's revenue up from $11.98 million in 2010 to $23.55 million in 2012.
"Companies are looking for ways to be more efficient by bringing in more outsourcing so they don't have to hire the people themselves," Howard says.
